Wireless Edge Extension: TA Smith informs the BOS John Arthur from Wireless Edge has requested a 1 year extension on the due diligence period for the cell tower on Town Farm Road. TA Smith says this agreement goes back to 2011. At that time the economy was down and Wireless Edge could not find a cell phone provider to come on board. Mr. Arthur has been in touch with TA Smith as there has been some interest in this cell tower location. Selectman Maynard says he reached out to his contacts a few years ago and could not get any interest, Selectman Maynard says Jim is doing his best; we should give an additional year. Selectman Limanek questions if this was the site that was voted on a few years ago at Town Meeting. TA Smith replies yes it is a 6 acre parcel that the town paid $24,000.00 for rights. All have agreed this is a good site we are just waiting for a carrier. Selectman Limanek states this would blanket the northern side of town which would be perfect. Selectman Kenney says it is a great idea to stay with Wireless Edge and agrees the location is great. Chairman Hall says a year ago there was some discussion as to whether we should continue with this agreement or look around, it was clear that the problem was not with Wireless Edge but the industry. Dave feels moving forward with Wireless Edge is the right thing to do. Selectman Maynard motions to extend the due diligence period for an additional year with Wireless Edge, Selectman Limanek 2nds passes 4-0

TA Update:
  • Ball Drop revenue: the Ross Yanko Childrens fund recently had an event at Blackstone National. Chief Belsito supplied volunteer firefighters to drive the quint to the location and assist with a ball drop. The town received a $250 check for the Food pantry
  • Chairman Hall says kudos to Chief Belsito for volunteering the service of fire personnel and getting a donation.
  • Tennis Court Reconstruction: out to bid- bids due back August 20th. The plan is to get these courts ready by early fall.
  • Chairman Hall says the tennis courts are in desperate need of repair
  • Entryway at the Early Learning Center: out to bid- bids are due back August 12th. This is on school property so it is not eligible for Chapter 90 funds.  The cost estimate is $125,000. The School Building Finance Committee met and agreed we can use contingency funds from the school project for this.
  • Selectman Maynard says that drive way has been in need of repair for a while.
  • Selectman Limanek hopes this will be completed prior to school starting; it may be difficult with buses and trucks if school is in session.
  • A structural barn fire at Funaris happened on Saturday. We had mutual aid from all surrounding towns.
  • Selectman Limanek saw pictures of the fire, Jesses thanks all town s for their reciprocity.
  • Selectman Kenney reiterates what a good job the fire fighters did, he also mentions the list of towns that assisted.
  • Chairman Hall says the concept of Mutual Aid started over 100 years ago, the value of having help from surrounding communities is important. Congratulations to our fire fighters as well as all the firefighters in the Blackstone Valley.
  • Gov. Bakers supplemental FY15 budget includes $55,000. To the Town of Sutton for snow removal costs. This needs to be approved by the legislature before the Gov. can sign. Jim has contacted Senator Fattman and State Rep McKenna for their support.
  • Selectman Limanek asks if this is from the State or FEMA, TA Smith replies the State.
